Zolver.in is an AI-powered study assistant for Indian students preparing for JEE, NEET, CBSE, and other examinations. The platform is operated from India and is subject to the Information Technology Act, 2000 and applicable Indian data protection laws.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your actual password)
• Subscription plan (Free, Pro, or Elite)

2.2 Usage Data

When you use the app, we collect:

• Questions you ask the AI
• AI answers and your saved notes
• Folder and chapter names you create
• Daily question count (for plan limit enforcement)
• Device type and browser (for technical diagnostics)

2.3 Images

If you upload a photo of a question, the image is sent directly to the AI model for processing. We do not permanently store uploaded images — they are processed in memory and discarded after the response is generated.

2.4 Payment Information

We do not store credit card or payment details. All payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We only receive confirmation of successful payment and your plan tier.

2.5 Cookies and Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how students use the platform. This collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited and session duration. You can opt out by using browser privacy settings or a tracking blocker.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the AI doubt solving service
• To save your answered questions and revision notes
• To enforce daily usage limits per your plan
• To send important account notifications (e.g. password reset)
• To analyse aggregate usage patterns and improve the product
• To prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with anyone except as described below.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the following service providers, solely to operate the platform:

• Supabase — database and authentication (servers in AWS)
• Google Gemini API — AI responses (your question text is sent to Google's servers)
• OpenRouter / Groq — AI responses for free plan users
• Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, security (servers globally)
• Google Analytics — anonymised usage analytics
• Unsplash — cover images for study guides (no personal data shared)

All providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only to provide their service to us.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with the following protections:

• Row-Level Security (RLS) — you can only access your own data
• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transfers
• Passwords hashed using bcrypt — never stored in plain text
• API keys stored in environment variables, never in source code

6. Data Retention

• Free plan: Chat history retained for 7 days
• Pro/Elite plan: Unlimited history while account is active
• If you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• Anonymised analytics data may be retained for longer for product improvement

7. Children's Privacy

Zolver.in is designed for students aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete the account promptly.

For students aged 13–18, we encourage parental awareness of their child's use of the platform.

8. Your Rights

Under applicable Indian law and global best practices, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — update inaccurate information in your account settings
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability — request your saved notes and chat history in a readable format
• Opt-out — disable analytics tracking using browser settings

9. Third-Party Links

Our study guide pages may contain links to external websites (e.g. NCERT, Wikipedia). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of any significant changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in India.
